Return to innocence ,,,

Open Elective :
Day started with all the politics of numbers of available and allotted seats for courses ...
We had 3 courses available as open electives.
1. Play with clay
2. Identity, aesthetics and culture of making
3. Interactive multimedia

So the first day of my course started with cursing myself for reaching late to reserve seat.
I chose(?) 'Play with clay' , I was late to reach campus (as usual ). Early morning on 1 st jan(Y?) ...

The guy called 'Reghu' was our faculty, who looked very ordinary and talking very less.
We had to go 15 days at farm house and I had to go through foolish idea's 'being with yourself' stuff.
But I am happy to say ,,, that was my stupid prediction.
Raghu, indeed very enlightened artist... who sculpted 50,000 murals till now and 25 solo exhibitions.Who denied fellowship from US and works in small village for inspiration.
Very honest to his profession. Reghu do not preach any unnecessary philosophy. But his work speaks on behalf.Very nice quote i read in his folio>

"There's lot of theory. But you cant have a long story for blank canvas. You need to take a brush and paint"
Talking about clay, its such miraculous tool. You think about something and you can see its taking tangible form within minutes. You need to finish it before getting dry, which makes it spontaneous expression of art.

few more snaps here ...

Whole journey was kinda of return to childhood... return to innocence. This I could go closest to myself... { specially after working two years in some stupid IT firm ,,, n about to loose expression of myself }
overall ... Lot of fun ...with some creative satisfaction....

Many of us were already fascinated by Jinan who came for first elective.
And it was an eye opening experience as suspected.
One of my batchmate Radhika P says,
"It made me look into the depths of myself, and see the same ‘child’ that exists in me as it has always, only surroundings and habits have changed the totality. Changing habits was a part of the whole exercise...this was not easy to start with, but the moment I came to the realization that there was nothing impossible, the whole picture took a different turn...I tried writing with my left hand, tried doing things I often did in a very different manner....although at first it was a planned act of how to do it, when to do it, and in which way to do it, later it became far more spontaneous... when I felt like it I would try and write a paragraph with my left hand...not that the paragraph was meaningful, but the act of trying and exploring something new with my very own senses was indeed a great learning!"

an interesting article 'Dont follow the herd mentality' written by Justin G, published in Times of India after the course.
